Take your bathroom from tired to tempting
There’s no doubt about it, bathrooms play an important part in selling your home. If yours is looking a little tired, don’t despair we’ve got some helpful ways to take it from tired to tempting.
Let me walk you through the changes that were made on the above project we recently worked on:
Walls
By replacing the faux tongue and groove cladding with large white tiles it instantly makes the room look larger and more spacious. This, coupled with the white walls, means that the once cramped and closed in space now looks light and appealing. You’ll see the tiling has been extended onto the window ledge, which means that your eye is draw right to the window rather than stopping short at the dark and unattractive piece of black worktop that was there previously.
Bathroom Suite
The original basin was simply too large for the room. It was too imposing and out of proportion . This has been replaced with a slimmer basin, but using the same tap in order to keep costs down.
The yellowing bath panel has been painted white using a spray paint designed for use on plastics. This provides a really cost-effective solution to removing this eye sore.
The shower curtain has been replaced with a glass shower screen allowing you to see right through to the tilled wall behind. This creates a more spacious feel.
Flooring
The dark and ill-fitting lino has been updated with a cushioned lino in a lighter shade. The addition of the grained plank effect draws your eye into the room and makes it appear longer.
Accessories
The use of well-placed accessories takes what is essentially a white bathroom into an inviting room in which to relax and unwind after a hard day. The calming picture on the wall not only provides a splash of colour, but also masks an ugly shaving point.
Using the window ledge as a focal point draws your eye to the furthest point of the room and the use of colourful accessories together with luxury towels gives the room a feel of a boutique hotel.
The colour you choose to introduce into your bathroom is also important and studies have shown that the most appealing colour, to both men and women, in a bathroom is blue.
The transformations made to this bathroom cost less than £600, with the majority of this cost relating to the tiling. This goes to show that you don’t need to spend a fortune to transform your tired bathroom into a stand out room that your buyers will love.
Please get in touch and share your bathroom transformations and what worked for you, we’d love to hear from you.
Best wishes
Stephanie
